Health & Tele-medicine

Under the sensing applications, this group is an imaging-AI group: denoising noisy signals, segmenting structure from cluttered scenes, fusing complementary modalities, and learning when labelled data is scarce. Those are the same problems medical image analysis lives with every day.

This area explores carrying that imaging and AI lineage into health, from medical image analysis to remote, tele-medical sensing and monitoring, within the Multimedia Research Centre’s broader multimedia and imaging tradition, in collaboration with the University of Alberta’s Rehabilitation Robotics Lab (RRL) in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, whose work spans telerehabilitation, assistive robotics and virtual reality in rehabilitation medicine.

Sample projects coming as this area is populated.
